What is E CITY?

E CITY is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that teaches youth from the greater Cleveland area about entrepreneurship and financial self-sufficiency.

Do I have to already have a business idea to participate in the class?

No. The E CITY program will help you develop a business idea based on opportunities and your passion.

What are the criteria to participate?

E CITY does not have a GPA or grade requirement. The only requirement is that you commit to the program, attend all classes, and participate in class discussions and activities.

How do I know if the E CITY program is in my school?

Ask your Principal or Guidance Counselor or contact Jessica Koppen, Assistant Director of Programs, at 216-456-2098 or at jessica.koppen@ecitycleveland.com.

What does the E CITY program cost?

Nothing for the student or his or her family! E CITY works year round to raise money to provide the program to students for free! All we ask is that you make a serious commitment to full participation and completion of the program.

What if I don’t want to run a business after I get into the program?

That’s okay. Every student who participates in the E CITY program will learn how to identify a business opportunity, how to write a business plan, and how to present that plan to an audience. Students are given some start-up money to make a beginning on their small business, but they are not required to run it. Our program teaches many other life skills that will be important to students in any kind of work they do- working as a business owner, or working for someone else.
